Developing comprehensive prevention strategies to address violence against women

Developing Comprehensive Prevention Strategies to Prevent Violence Against Women

David Lee of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Kathy Ferguson of the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault gave this workshop at the Women of Color Network Call to Action Conference and Institute in New Orleans, LA, in May, 2010.

The prevention of violence against women, especially women of color, requires community-based efforts that do more than educate. Prevention efforts must advance social justice in order to change the conditions that create domestic violence and sexual assault. This workshop will explore prevention strategies that empower communities to address oppression, to promote positive behaviors and to take action.
