Measuring and Communicating About Perpetration and its Impacts on Prevention

This is part 2 of a 3-part podcast with Dr. Zoe Peterson, where she shares more about insights on perpetration and prevention. On this podcast, Dr. Peterson discusses the challenges in measuring perpetration, as reported in her research here and here. The challenges she faces in the lab are similar to challenges in how sexual and intimate partner violence prevention practitioners communicate about prevention: how do potential perpetrators identify what behaviors are sexually violent and violating, and how can prevention practitioners use accessible language so prevention messages reach perpetrators and potential perpetrators?

Check out part 1 of the podcast with Dr. Peterson where she discusses her research on modifiable risk factors for perpetration. On part 3 of this podcast, Dr. Peterson shares the importance of early and ongoing healthy sexuality education for violence prevention, and how #MeToo has impacted research.
