2018 National Sexual Assault Conference: Expanding the Boundaries of Shifting Boundaries: From initial Implementation to Innovation

The 2018 National Sexual Assault Conference, “Bold Moves: Ending Sexual Violence in One Generation,” was held in Anaheim, CA, August 29-31 2018. This workshop was part of the Prevention track, co-sponsored by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Nan Stein and Mina White share their experiences and successes with implementing, evaluating, and adapting Shifting Boundaries. Shifting Boundaries is an effective evidence-based program to prevent sexual harassment in middle schools. Nan Stein explains the science behind the effectiveness and evaluation of Shifting Boundaries, especially highlighting the school-wide intervention. Mina White of the California Department of Public Health shares how RPE programs and Rape Crisis Centers in California have adapted Shifting Boundaries by implementing the school-wide intervention first before moving into classroom sessions.
