PreventConnect Reading Club:
News Coverage of Child Sexual Abuse
|
|
Join other PreventConnect prevention practitioners throughout the country in the August PreventConnect Reading Club to examine "Case by Case: News Coverage of Child Sexual Abuse," published by the Berkeley Studies Media Group with support from the Ms. Foundation for Women. This report demonstrates that child sexual abuse is underreported and that media coverage does not describe the social context of child sexual abuse. The report includes recommendations for journalists on ways to improve coverage of child sexual abuse as well as recommendations for advocates to help push for policies that will institute prevention.
Registration is limited to 40 people per session.
The article will be disseminated upon registration. |
Mon., Aug. 29, 2011
This sixty-minute (60 min) session will start at
11 AM Pacific Standard
(2 PM Eastern, 1 PM Central, Noon Mountain, 10 AM Alaska, 8 AM Hawai'i).

What is a Reading Club?
People involved in prevention rarely have an opportunity to discuss the impact of emerging research about this work. PreventConnect Reading Clubs meetings provide a way for people to meet online and have such discussions. These small, one-hour meetings occur on an open phone line, with the web conference used as a common way to view the reading and other materials.
Compatibility:
The iLinc web conference software used by Prevent Connect is compatible with both Microsoft® Windows® and Apple® Macintosh® computers. Click here for detailed system requirements.
